Our poor children...what we, as a nation, have subjected them to is appalling!
1) We have television shows (even some cartoons) that are full of violence, then wonder why they act out towards others.
2) We give them toys, unknowingly, that are full of lead and other chemicals such as arsenic just so suppliers can save a buck by buying from over seas, who are lax on regulations.
3) Now we, again, unknowingly feed them contaminated meat through school lunches! The video is here...warning: this video is horrible and will make you cry.
Our leaders are worried about the economy, when they should focus on our children! When Autism is at an all time high, where are our answers? Who will fight for our children? How do we protect them from harm's way when harm won't rear it's ugly face until it is too late?
Take a moment and think about this. Do you have the answer?
My idea? We already try to limit what the kids watch on TV, although good, wholesome programs are hard to come by. I check their toys here, although I just came across this site from another blogger. We also limit toys that do not challenge their imagination. My Father has resigned to building toys, not only for the fact that they are timeless, but he is against batteries. Anything that takes 6 AAA batteries is ridiculous! We also drink soy milk and eat chicken and turkey that has not been injected with hormones.
This is a beginning......and we still have lots of work to do, but our kids are counting on us...we are all they have.
