And not of the hooker variety.
I mean, working girl, as in 'Wow, Mommy! You get up awfully early in order to prepare us kids for the day. And to think, you head off to work for 8 hours before starting all over again at home'.
As if THAT would ever come from my family's mouth. It's more like, "Mom! Where is my blah blah blah?"
"I want my Spidey shirt. Wash it!"
"Honey, have you seen my deodorant? "
Anyway, as I was preparing dinner tonight (unappreciatively I might add), an idea popped into my head for this post.
Tips for us working Moms. From Moms for Moms.
Anyone want in? Anyone want to make a button.
I was thinking of maybe calling it: Mom Tips for the Working Stiff
Like it?
So, here is mine, just to give you an idea.....
Dinner Time
With Spring upon us, the kids activities are beginning to pile up. Soccer practice, T-ball games, dance class, gymnastics, etc. By the time the family arrives home, it's just about bath and bed time.
Which doesn't leave a whole-lotta time for meal preparation. At least nothing that isn't brought in from the drive-thru.
So here's a tip, and what works for us......
When you're at the grocery store, pick up a quarter size boneless ham. It's usually pre-packaged and will run you about $7.00 or so. Next, grab a box of instant mashed potatoes and a few of those boxed frozen veggies.
On your busy nights, slice off some ham and warm in a frying pan. Grab a pot for the mashed potatoes and throw the veggies in the microwave. They usually take between 5-6 minutes (Just enough time for the ham to warm and potatoes to finish :)
Prepare the mashed potatoes using the directions on the box. However, we have found that if you use garlic salt instead of regular it gives them a great taste!
And tada! Your done. In 5 minutes. I swear!
And what's even better.....there is enough ham for two or three meals!
Now, it's your turn.
And if you so totally want in because this is the greatest idea since sliced bread and/or would like to donate a button since you have mad skillz let me know!

I like it too, but I have no idea what instant potatoes are, and I don't want to know. )
My suggestions are not great though...they run along the lines of uh, pick up a hot pizza on the way home in between the games and homework. Sigh.

I'd love to get in on this. I'm not great at working on buttons, but I've done them and would love to do one for you.
The suggestion you gave....great one. I'll try to come up with some soon.

I'm in. One of my tips: batch cooking.

I think that's a great idea. Once you get a button for it, let us know. And pick a day of the week or something and we'll see what we can do about getting a new carnival going.

My secret is that I stopped caring about the house. Seriously. I would rather Alexis remember a childhood filled with playing with Play-Doh and walks at the park than have a clean house. It's so much easier that way.

my big secret is that I only buy ONE KIND of socks for everyone in the house. Of course they are all different for different people, but only buy one type. Either buy $200 worth all at once, or do what I do: all socks get tossed (or reused as dust rags) on the first day of each season (yes, they do get worn out or nasty that fast in my family)and replaced with new.
One type of white socks and one type of dress socks. Now you never have to spend time sorting and mating. All white socks match with all white socks. All dress socks match with all dress socks.

I would love to be a part of this and I think the name is awesome! I am only going to be a working stiff for two more months (yay) but I still have some tips if you ever need a guest blog or something. Also, the name is great.
