Consequences of Misorganization

Just a few.....

A couple weeks ago Chachi came home from school with a project.....to "dress" a paper turkey.  I filed the due date away in my mind, Wednesday, and moved on. 
Come Tuesday, I reminded Chachi that we needed to finish her Turkey.  I happened to do this in front of her teacher when I picked her up at school.  And that evening, that's just what we did.  Only, after a second glance at the instructions, I noticed the due date. 
Apparently, we were a week late. 
I sent it in anyway. 
What's worse?  Chachi was so excited that HER turkey was hung on the wall with the others. 
Oops.  

This weekend was prepare for the holidays time.  Lights up, tree up, house cleaned and moved around to make room, etc.  While cleaning the living room, hubby decided to put our "extra" DVD player in Chachi's room, since her's suddenly stopped working.  After some fumbling with wires, moving her dresser out, finding an extentsion cord, etc we finally got it working.  Only, when the door to the player opened, hubby yelled out....
"Isn't this the Netflix movie you lost 6 months ago?" he exclaimed swinging around the disc on his pointer finger.
"What?!"
And there it was in all it's glory.  The reason why we have been down to one movie rental for months. 
Whoda thought to look in the actual DVD player? 

And finally, a picture story (and I didn't do it).....

Aren't the lights nice?  Hubby worked feverishly over the weekend to get them up.  Before his TV time. 

Now that you know how "fast" he was working, take a second look. 

Notice anything strange?  Besides the crooked light!

Here....I will give you a closer look.....

Ding Ding Ding Ding.  That's right!  He left the light packaging on the roof.  

And I took these just now.  Exactly 3 days and 6.5 hours later. 
At this rate, he might as well leave them there to make taking them down that much easier. 

And that's my life.  Crooked light and all. 
Oh, did I mention the bulb in that light has been out for months.  And did I mention that the photo-cell on that light has been broke for even longer.  And did I mention that I actually have a tiny flashlight on my keychain so I can see to get in the door. 

This and That

Just some random thoughts of our daily life....

Is it strange that the kids need to wear boots to play in the backyard in order to combat chicken poop. I laugh to myself each and every time I pull into the driveway and chickens meet me at the gate.  We did fix the chicken poop problem by locking the girls in their run, much to the kid's relief.  Apparently it isn't easy to run in boots and they can also be problematic when going down the sliding board.  There has been a time or two where someone goes ass over head from the friction against the board.

Homework....apparently pen is not appreciated in the workbook.  If only they would send home a pencil since finding one in this house is like looking for a needle in a haystack. 

I think the ghost from Halloween past lives in our house as our decorations have mysteriously disappeared. 

Puppy and a screaming little girl does not mix well.  She screams, he thinks she is playing, she screams more, he plays more, scream, play, scream, play.  And it always ends in someone crying.  Which reminds me, we need tissues.  

I saved a ton of money at Acme, in case anyone has one close. 

It must be almost winter....the bitch of a van is acting up just in time to leave me stranded on the side of a very cold, dark at 5pm road.  And for sure my cell will be on the red.

Played the daily number yesterday evening.  Had a few singles so threw in 3 scratch offs.  Each one was a winner, although the daily number was a dud.  Just when I thought I was out, they pulled me right back in. 

It's kinda strange to look out into the living room to find the grown adult male sleeping sitting up and the little wee male still playing the video game.  Just another ass backwards moment. 

It's almost mid-October, and I haven't gotten the kid's Halloween costumes yet.  Although if I ask them what they want to be, they both say ghosts.  First thought?  Oh, $6.00 sheets and a pair of scissors.  But my Mommy guilt sets in and I begin to search online for the most elaborate costumes I can find.  Am I crazy?  Sheets and scissors?   I can just picture Chachi at her school parade tripping on her sheet and falling down all wrapped up in the thing.  Then I jump to American's Funniest Videos and the possibility of winning 100G's, and the guilt goes away.  

I have found myself covering up for the puppy's accidents in the house.  Although I don't think Dave believed me when he walked in and I told him it was me who pooped on the floor.

And finally, a household tip....don't BBQ in the dark.  You don't notice the chicken burning until you get into the house and charred legs are staring you in the face.  I told Dave to put his helmet light on, but something about the neighbors and are you f'in serious.  Not sure exactly.  I shut the door and couldn't hear the rest. 

So much happening, so little time.....

It's been a while.  Haven't I started the last, um, I don't know....6 posts that way.

First day of school for Chachi (wearing her ever cute uniform!).  And her 'wishing he was joining her' brother.  And, I might add, the only shot I got before she pushed me out of the way and rushed in!

Our first eggs from the girls.....well, one girl.  And boy, has she been working overtime making up for the free-loading non-layers.

Even more eggciting (get the pun!)....the first one cracked open was a double yolk!

Two of the girls all grown up....Yup, I am getting teary eyed over chickens....having empty nest syndrome here...literally. 

 

My birthday present to myself...the cutest little girl ever.  Don't you just love that hair-do! I introduce you to Fraggle Rock!

More to come....for real, for real.  I'm serious.  Really.  Honest.  I swear.  For real.  I got my mojo back. 

Is it over?

The long weekend?  Is it finally over?

I can't believe those three days are gone.  So quick. 

Thankfully, we got just about everything we wanted accomplished, done.  Garden finished.  Pool open, although not completely clean.  But it will be after another 15 gallons of chlorine and a week of running the pump/filter.  And just in time for the cold weather.  Who'da thought. 

Caught up on laundry, and even hung a few loads out to dry on the line.  Saved myself a quarter. 

We even introduced a new pet to the flock.  Now, on top of the chihuahua, guinea pig and 4 chickens we have.......

....tadpoles! 

Not really sure what type of frogs we will end up with, but a good chance they may be of the Bull variety.  Big, large, warty kinds. 

Fun.  Fun.
